I have always loved light. From the first magical moments of solitude in a long ago darkroom, blank paper transforming to shadows and highlights with mystical slowness, to today's layers of brushstrokes whispered across canvas, light has always been my first love, followed closely by darkness. The struggle between the two and the beauty of that struggle inspires my work.
My current work plays with not only light and shadows, but with deep-set textures, both mechanical and elemental. Strong organic features, allusions to spires and stone, are contrasted against mechanical impressions wrought from rubber and metal and iron - everyday objects and some not so.
